Tools to Extend the Life of Your Full Lace Wig

Full lace wigs are ideal for those who are suffering from alopecia or damaged hair. Full lace wigs are also suited for those who want to want to protect their hair or for those who like to change up their hair styles frequently without inflicting damage on their own hair.   Unlike traditional wigs, full lace wigs allow users to manipulate the hair without any obstructed parting space.  Moreover, depending on the type of hair, cap construction and overall quality, full lace wigs last for years in comparison to their weft wig counterparts.   Nonetheless, while full lace wigs have several advantages, wearing a full lace wig requires much effort to maintain its longevity.   Thus, there are a few products needed to extend your full lace wig’s lifeline.

Full lace wigs are attached on a base of either Swiss or French lace.   While these are not the only types of lace available, they are widely used and often preferred.   The hair is attached to the lace base using ventilation in which the hair is knotted onto the lace.   Overtime with frequent use and even abuse, the hair may become loosened from the lace base which causes shedding.   Shedding results in sparse areas and bald spots which can alter the full lace wig’s overall look.   Knot sealer helps the knots to remain strong and attached to the lace.   Currently there are several brands of knot sealer on the market.   However, many women find that using craft adhesive spray is the cheapest option with satisfying results.   Regardless of which type of knot sealer that you use, it is pertinent to seal the knots on your lace wig to prevent shedding and thus extend your wig’s lifetime.

Whether you have a full lace wig that has been processed for texture or color, or if you have a virgin full lace wig, silicon mix orapple cider vinegar is pertinent to maintain the hair on your wig and provide a smooth look.   Silicon mix is key for processed human hair.   When hair is processed, silicone is then applied to the hair to seal the cuticle and keep it flat.   Like with any hair including the hair on your head, smooth and sealed cuticles keep hair soft, manageable, tangle and frizz free.   As you continue to wash and wear your processed full lace wig, the silicone coating wears off which is why most processed hair experiences gradual tangling and matting.   Silicon mix will coat the hair to keep it smooth and tangle free without harsh processing.

Apple cider vinegar is a staple product for any hair type.   Therefore, it’s not surprising that apple cider vinegar is a staple product for full lace wigs. Apple cider vinegar can be used on processed hair, however, virgin hair is better suited for apple cider vinegar over silicon mix as virgin hair does not contain any silicone coating.   Apple cider vinegar gives the same results as silicon mix without the added silicone.   Apple cider vinegar users agree that when used in moderation, the hair is soft, resilient and tangle free.

If you have a full lace wig with fraying lace or if you want to prevent your new lace wig from acquiring fraying lace, then you need pinking shears. Fraying lace not only makes blending the lace with your skin difficult, but fraying lace also depletes the life of the lace on your full lace wig.   Therefore, you need pinking shears to keep the lace from fraying as excessively.   Unfortunately, pinking shears are only one part of the equation and will not completely prevent fraying lace.   Consequentially, you will also need something called Fray Block to prevent fraying lace entirely.

Fray block, fray check or any other brand of fabric fraying product is essential in maintaining the lace on your full lace wig.   When you wash your wig, stretch the lace, and even apply glue or tape to the lace, the lace usually starts to fray or produce an unraveling effect.   In order to combat fraying lace, products to prevent fraying fabric are used to seal the lace and prevent unraveling.   Many people neglect this step; however, the lace is the lifeline of the wig and needs to be attended to in the best possible manner.
